At the invitation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Al-Alamain Institute for higher education for His Eminence Sayyed Salih Al-Hakim, Head of Al-Kalima Center, Mr. Hadi Maaleh, Executive Director of the Center, spoke on behalf of His Eminence at the panel discussion entitled “Rules of International Humanitarian Law and Islamic Principles Applicable to Armed Conflict” that was held at Al-Alamain Institute for higher education. The panel discussion was jointly organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iraq , Bahr al-Ulum Charitable Foundation and Al-Alamein Institute for higher education.
The panel discussion was attended by Mr. Mohammed Ali Bahr al-Ulum, Director of Bahr al-Ulum Charitable Foundation, Mrs. Katrina Ritz, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mission in Iraq, Mrs. Lakmini Siniver, Legal Advisor to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iraq and large group of the virtues of Hawza in Najaf and professors and experts of international law. The discussion was about international law and its connection with the divine laws, especially Islamic law, as well as its connection with the human instinct, which rejects the conflict and moves towards integration and harmony.
In his intervention, the Executive Director stressed that meaningful constructive dialogue contributes effectively in reducing conflicts, bringing the views of different parties together, and accepting the other opinion, which supports the work of the ICRC.
